There are golden rules in fashion. Never ever question fashion as a religion. We pick and choose what to keep. Sometimes we convince ourselves we aren’t adhering to the laws, but really, we are. And the case of matching bags and shoes is the classic example.
 
Many old ladies will be seen with a pastel pink bag and pastel pink shoes – you may think oh dear lord – but it’s time to say right on. We do the exact same thing! We match. We just have a different idea about matching.
 
No longer is matching about precision. You wouldn’t want to wear tasseled shoes and a tasseled bag because that would be overdrive. But, you would wear a beige tasseled bag with leopard flats because they work together.
 
Keeping a look fresh and stylish is about variation, but you still need to ‘match’. Make sure you mix-match starting with your bag and shoes to start getting the easy rules spot on.

In life, we say hellos and goodbyes all the time. Some greetings and farewells are easy and meaningless. Others are tear- fuelled and difficult.
 
Knowing when to shoo away a pair of shoes is one of the hard bye-byes we say!
 
I would not call myself a hoarder in general. But with shoes, it is a whole new story. For some reason I always justify keeping that old, unstylish pair because, one day they might look good with something… I make excuses and tell myself that even though the embellishment on one of shoes is gone, it is fine and I may actually wear it one day.
 
I guess we all need a little courage sometimes so that we know how to say goodbye to a pair of shoes. If you’ve worn a shoe well, it should be easier. Thank the shoe for all the good times and service over the years, but it’s time to move on.
 
If you haven’t worn a shoe well, and you never wear it ever ask yourself: is the shoe ugly? Does it match anything? Could it realistically be handy to hold onto? Once you’ve answered these questions you’ll know what to do. I got rid of 2 pairs.

Femininity is still one of those coveted looks – lest we forget. But, all of a sudden the brogue, desert boot and loafer have become fashion staples. In a time when androgynous models are strutting their stuff, this comes as now surprise. Back in the day, pink was for girls. Long ago, there were set gender distinctions in fashion. The biggest change in fashion is the loss of gender-specific looks.
 
In terms of women’s men style, remember the blazer, the white short, the rolled up pants… sounds like a catalogue for men’s resort style! Inspiration for fashion can come from anywhere. Even 50s dresses sudden resurgence can be attributed to Mad Men. So, looking at the opposite gender sounds pretty normal sartorially speaking.
 
The key to emulate male trends and not actually look like a man is to jazz up brogues with a cute skirt. Take key male pieces and accessorize to make sure you look gender-apt and comfortable rocking a different style.

We recently got a request from a customer to see if we could get her size in one of our blue shoes because she is getting married and wants her shoe to be THE something blue!
 
I thought this was one of those incredibly cute and innovative ideas to share with the rest of you. Snaps for the bride with the blue shoes! It is something you do not see all too often but has a dominating sense of ‘fun’ with a creative element that is unbeatable.
 
If you think it’s odd- I can convert you to my way of thinking in an instant. Look at what Carrie wears when she marries Big in City Hall: yes, a white suit and blue Manolo Blahnik shoes that are so pretty I could cry.

I just saw the movie Bridesmaids and could easily have cracked a rib or two from laughing so hard. To say the movie is funny would be an understatement. It is easily a 10/10.
 
Without giving the movie plot away, there is one scene where the girls are bridesmaid dress shopping. It seems like it is even more intense than shopping for a wedding dress because you’re not pleasing one person – but plenty more!
 
Bridesmaid dresses are hard to pick. Imagine, what happens when it gets to bridesmaid shoes. Do they all wear the same shoe? The same colour? Different colours? Shoes and bridesmaids are even more complicated than the dresses.

Some shoes are just right. Some are too hot, some are too cold – and some are velvet and that’s enough of a justification to make a new purchase.
 
The Figure black peep toe bootie now comes in velvet. For those who love velvet, don’t wear this shoe with velvet. It would be a little too much perhaps! There are some fabrics which bring a smile to the face, but wear too much of the one fabric and you’ll be charged with crimes against fashion.
 
Peep-toe shoes are tough because some don’t go with a pair of tights. I used to be against a winter peep-toe but I’ve simply learnt how to get the look. With this velvet special, make sure your tights are opaque. Avoid sheer! You don’t want to have too many textures going on in one look.

The weatherman is confusing. Every day is a new day, a new story to tell, some more rain, some sun and god knows what else the dude has in mind. Bet he laughs watching over us all fretting over the temperature.
 
When the weather is in between the typical temperature of hot or cold- it is fair to say, anything can go. But we must ask ourselves, what is anything?
 
Say it is 18 and cloudy, you could definitely get away with tights, a shirt and skirt a scarf and no jacket. But 18 and sunny is a whole new story! I would go for bare legs, ankle boots, a dress and cardie or jeans and a tee. There are no rules when it comes to the awkward weather days. The flexibility just makes everything difficult.
 
The trick is to decide whether you’re going bare-legged or not and depending on what you do, you respectively add a layer or loose one!

With the ballet Black Swan phase almost over, one thing remains: ballet flats. For good reasons too!
 
The ballet flat is an essential to have in your cupboard. No matter what time of the year it is, you can be sure that your ballet flat is reliable all year round.
 
Ballet flats have the versatile X factor that makes them a must-have. You can wear them with jeans. A cute floaty dress and any length skirt can also be worn with ballet flats.
 
Remember, if you have big feet try avoiding pointy versions. Instead go for something like our Thesis Leopard ballet flat. A round toe is a safe bet and gives a feminine touch.
